DAILY TRANSMISSION · SEPTEMBER 13, 2026
Shooting Yellow vs. Orange
SCRIPTURE · 1 SAMUEL 17:37
“The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!”
The Devotional
Most men know the feeling: you're invited into a room full of people who are better at something than you are, and your first instinct is to shrink back. You start rehearsing how badly it could go before it ever begins.
This Daily Transmission grows out of a day at the range alongside seasoned police officers — men who hit their targets with precision. The nervousness going in was real. But the day turned out far better than expected, and the fear that came before it proved to be much bigger than the actual challenge.
David faced something similar. Standing before Saul, he didn't point to his own skill. He pointed to the Lord who had already carried him through the lion and the bear. His confidence rested on God's past faithfulness, not on how he compared to the soldiers around him.
Fear often lies about how a day will end. When we step forward anyway — trusting that God goes with us — we frequently discover He has been preparing us all along. Being around stronger men is not a threat; it's a chance to be sharpened.
Key Points
- Fear tends to predict a worse outcome than God actually allows.
- Our confidence rests on God's past faithfulness, not on comparing ourselves to others.
- Walking alongside stronger men is an opportunity to grow, not a reason to hide.
